Richard "Dick" William Flanigan Richard (Dick) Flanigan of Brighton, Michigan passed away on November 7th at the age of 87. Dick was born in Detroit on August 4, 1934 to Cornelia and Meryl Flanigan. He lived with his parents and siblings (Edward, Phyllis, Lois, Bonnie and Michael) on Appoline Street in Detroit in a house his father built.

Richard (Dick) Flanigan of Brighton, Michigan passed away on November 7th at the age of 87. Dick was born in Detroit on August 4, 1934 to Cornelia and Meryl Flanigan. He lived with his parents and siblings (Edward, Phyllis, Lois, Bonnie and Michael) on Appoline Street in Detroit in a house his father built. After graduation from Mackenzie High School in 1952, Dick worked in maintenance for Sanders Candy Company, where he learned to be a refrigeration mechanic and later attended Cass Technical Trade School and Lawrence Technical College to hone his skills in refrigeration and air conditioning. Dick served in the Army from 1957-1959 at Fort Lewis in Washington and Fort Sill in Oklahoma as Corporal in charge of the Battalion Motor Pool. When he returned from the army in 1959, Dick resumed working at Sanders, and it was at the store on Davison and Hamilton where he first met Bea who also worked there. Dick and Bea were married on September 16, 1961 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends. Dick will be remembered for his love of family, his jolly laugh and keen sense of humor, being a great provider for his family and always there when you needed him. Dick was an avid golfer, nature lover and jazz enthusiast. These influences are manifested in his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Bea; his daughters, Tracey (Kim Eberhard) Flanigan, Wendy (Dan Cooney) Flanigan, and Kathy (Enrique Geraldo) Balcom; his grandchildren, Nick (Maria), Alec, Julianne, Kamille, Tobin, and Marea; great-grandchildren, Cole and Aspen; his brother Michael (Sue) Flanigan, sister Bonnie Washburn, and many extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Meryl Flanigan; mother, Cornelia (Hitt) Flanigan; brother, Edward Flanigan; sister, Phyllis (Flanigan) Lefever; and sister, Lois Flanigan. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2022, date to be determined.
