Iona Ruth Bradley was born to Luther Andrew and Eldorene Anna (Lightfoot) Harper on September 12, 1928 in Sapulpa, OK. She was a younger sister to Verla, and soon [was] followed by brothers, Marland and Connie. As she approached adulthood, two more brothers would join the family, twins Verdie "Terry" and and Luther "Larry".

Iona entered Heaven's gates on December 7, 2016 at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 25 days. [Iona Ruth Bradley died December 7, 2016 in Tulsa County, Oklahoma - OK Death Records on website OK2explore.com.]

Iona married George E. Troxell on April 1, 1948 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. [Iona Ruth Harper married George E. Troxell on April 1, 1948 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma - Sapulpa Daily Herald newspaper, page 2, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on April 3, 1948.] Together they raised four children: George E. "Eddie", Jr., Ruth Ellen, Deuane, and Sandra Gail.

Following George's death, Iona married again to Al Vaughan of Bakersfield, California. [Iona Ruth Troxell married Alpha Omega Vaughan on September 7, 1979 in Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma - OK ODCR Records online.] Together they enjoyed traveling the West Coast and refurbishing furniture. She remained in California following Al's death with her family there for a few years.

Shortly after her return to the Sapulpa area, she met and married Alfred C. Bradley. [Iona Ruth Vaughan married Alfred C. Bradley on May 10, 1991 in Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma - OK ODCR Records online.] They enjoyed traveling, woodworking, painting, and most of all working in their church, Glenwood Assembly of God.

During her time here with us, Iona lived through difficult times. She and her family lived through the Depression era as well as her being preceded in death by three husbands and her eldest son. However, she also saw good times too. She loved her grandchildren to a fault. She also loved the young people from her church. She was able to see new churches built and new outreaches accomplished. During her life, Iona was active in the Sapulpa Church of the Nazarene, and for the last 50+ years Glenwood Assembly of God (now Cross Pointe Assembly).

Iona's heritage in the Sapulpa area is deep rooted. Her father, Luther was born in the area while it was still Indian Territory. Her grandfather was reportedly a lawman in Creek County who arrested the James' gang, only for them to escape, and her father not knowing who they were, to give them a ride out of town in his horse and wagon he used to make deliveries for the local mercantile. Many items available for display in the Sapulpa Historical Museum belonged to the Harper or Lightfoot families at one time.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: George E. Troxell, Sr., Alpha O. Vaughan, and Alfred C. Bradley; her son, George E. "Eddie" Troxell, Jr.; sister, Verla Harper Evans; brothers: Marland Harper, Connie Harper, and Luther "Larry" Harper.

Iona is survived by *** a brother, two daughters, and one son; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and one honorary great-great-grandchild; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Grace Hospice as well as Glenwood Healthcare Center, Glenpool, OK.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home from 2 - 4 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Cross Pointe Assembly of God, 450 E. Speer Ave, Sapulpa, OK. [Iona was buried beside her first husband, George Edward Troxell, Sr. in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.]
