Bradley W. Swan, 24, a lifelong Paxton resident, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.
A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Loda with the Rev. Scott Huggins officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cemetery in Paxton. Pallbearers were James Cappellano Jr., Dave Eckerty, Dave Martin, Dennis Swan, Mathew Foster and Travis Duley. Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Gardner, Mike Wagner and Boy Scout Troop 32.
Visitation was Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Paxton, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Mr. Swan was born Oct. 14, 1983, a son of Brian K. "Bud" and Toni M. Boman Swan.
Surviving are: his mother, Toni and step-father, Dean Swan, of rural Paxton; his father, Brian, and step-mother, Becky Swan, of Arbor Vitae, Wis.; one sister, Lindsay Swan, at home; three step-sisters, Alyssa Swan and Breann Swan, Paxton; and Julie Jenkins, St. Joseph; two step-brothers, John Ackman, Arbor Vitae, Wis., and Matthew Ackman, Royal and step-grandparents, Marless and Daryl Swan, Paxton; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mr. Swan graduated from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School in 2002 and from Joliet Junior College in 2005 with an associate's degree in applied sciences in hospitality management. He was employed at Nicor Corp. as a meter reader. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loda and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Swan obtained his Eagle Scout Award in 2000 and was the assistant troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 32. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. We was an avid fan of PBL and Illinois sports, the Chicago White Sox and the Miami Dolphins. He enjoyed boxing, NASCAR racing, hunting, playing cards and was a member of Pheasants Forever. He especially enjoyed being with friends and family.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Boy Scout Troop 32 or a charity of the donors choice.
