Mary Louise "Grannie" Williams Bankston, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Jackson on May 6, 2022. She was retired from Villa Feliciana Geriatric Hospital as the Human Resource Director where she served for 30 plus years. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Jackson United Methodist Church from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Chris Curry. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery, Jackson.
Grannie is survived by "daughters", Kay Kolb, Niece of Hoover, AL, Mary Alice Richard-Ford(Bill) of Jackson, LA and Terry Rhame(Jerry) of La Porte, TX, "sisters" because she was an only child, Drucilla Davidson of Jackson, LA and Linda Courtney of Jackson, LA and her dear friend, Grace Chase of Clinton, LA. Grannie is also survived by her grandchildren, Samuel Micah DeLee(Stephanie), Randee Kay DeLee Sartin(Cal), Margaret Louise "Meg" DeLee, John Dent Bankston(Elissa) and Joshua Dent DeLee(Amy) and great grandchildren, Caleb Michael Sartin, Matthew Randel Sartin, Mary Mikelyn Sartin, Emma Grace Bankston, Rebecca Brooke DeLee, Morgan Faye DeLee and Hayden Banks DeLee. Grannie is preceded in death by her husband of 55 1/2 years, Dent Bruce Bankston, daughter, Mary Cathy Bankston DeLee, Son-n-law, Samuel Eugene DeLee, son, Randall Dent Bankston, Father, Samuel Hall Williams, mother, Lynell Simmons Williams. Pallbearers will be Micah DeLee, John Dent Bankston, Josh DeLee, Cal Sartin, Caleb Sartin, Matthew Sartin, Eric Kolb, Kyle Kolb and Ivan Kolb. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Mattingly, Barrett Parker, JD Kent, Bill Ford, Henry Stremlau, John Grezaffi and Jerry Rhame.
Grannie was a member of Jackson Assembly since it was organized in 1966, Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, Wednesday Club.
Grannie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was a pillar of the community and was known for her famous Chess Pies and Lemon Sauce. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to all of her caregivers who became close friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Jackson United Methodist Church or Charity of your choice.
