Herman was born on Friday, August 8, 1930 in Atlas, Pa., to William M. Thomas Sr. and Dora (Bryant) Thomas.
He was predeceased by his parents; sons, Gary Thomas and Herman M. Thomas Jr.; siblings, William M. 'Bill' Thomas Jr., Margaret Crews, Orville Thomas, Nolan Thomas, Nancy Veeney and Charles Thomas.
Herman was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Uniontown and a member of the choir.
He worked in the Maintenance Department with the Fayette County Housing Authority.
He faithfully served as the caretaker at the Thomas Cemetery in Hopwood for many years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, Evelyn (Davis) Thomas; children: Debra Thomas, Robert "Sobbs" Thomas, Vicki Thomas, Terri Wallace, John Thomas (Terri), Andrea Thomas, Myra Thomas, Julia Thomas all of Uniontown, Pa., and Dale Thomas (Cindy) of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother, John I. Thomas of Alabama; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pennsylvania from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the hour of Service.
Interment will follow in the Thomas Cemetery, Hopwood, Pennsylvania.
