Born in Russellton, PA on November 29, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Theresa (Vadnal) Gruden, Sr.
Beloved Husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Gruden. Loving Father of Francis (Patti) Gruden III, Kevin Gruden and Patrick (Gina) Gruden. Grandfather of Francis J. Gruden IV, Nicole Elizabeth (David) DelGreco, Jacob P. Gruden, and the late Joshua A. Gruden. Great-Grandfather of Storey Elizabeth Gruden. Brother of Robert (Mary Ann) Gruden and the late Gertrude (the late Frank) Nycz. He is also survived by his loving family in Philadelphia who were an integral part of their family, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A longtime member of Guardian Angels Parish (St. Alphonsus), he served as an usher and a greeter. Proudly serving our country during World War II in the Army in the South Pacific. He was also a member of Springdale Veterans Association Post 1437, SNPJ, and the American Slovenian Citizens Association (The Acme Club). After a successful career with J & L Steel, he later started working with AWI servicing the PA Lottery where he was affectionately known as "Pops." He also found time to volunteer at the Aspinwall VA. Frank was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling with his wife prior to her death in 2007.
