Funeral services were set for Wednesday, April 5 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary, with the Rev. Dale Neyhart officiating. Burial was planned for the Grandview Cemetary at Gary.
Mr. Denekamp was born on May 26, 1917, in Florida Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minn., to Herman and Hannah (Iwerks) Denekamp. He grew up on the farm, one mile south and one half mile east of Gary. He married Esther Thompson on June 7, 1940 at Sioux Falls. They farmed on the Denekamp home farm until 1971 when they moved to their present farm, four miles east of Gary. They retired in 1983. He was a member of the First Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors are his wife, Esther of Canby; two sons, David of Gary and Donald of Canby; two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Bruce) Evans of Aberdeen, S.D., and Judy (Mrs. David) Stenmoe of Prescott, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
