Charles D. "Chot" Detweiler, 83, formerly of Palmer Township and Easton, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Slate Belt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Bangor. Born: July 9, 1926, in Harmony, NJ, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Laura Schlough Detweiler. Personal: His wife of 58 years, the former Dorothy M. Jones, died June 17, 2006. Chot retired from the Easton Fire Department where he was a fireman for 28 years. He graduated from Easton High School in 1944 and served with the Navy during World War II. Chot enjoyed golf, gardening and reading. Memberships: He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Easton. Survivors: two sons, Thomas N. and his wife Lesley, of Spring Run, PA and Karl D. and his wife Lee, of Stroudsburg; a brother, Robert, of Howell, MI; three grandchildren, Shane, Megan and Thomas and three great-grandchildren, Daxten, Harleigh and Lara. A brother, Meyer, died earlier. Services: Will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick St., Easton. Call Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Memorials: May be made to Sobrinski Scholarship Fund, c/o Kathy Sickler, Stroudsburg High School, 1100 W. Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
