Bobby's life began on December 6, 1953 in Ark City, KS; the son of the late Bobby and Donna (Perry) Smith, Sr. Bobby was the oldest of four boys. The family moved several times during his childhood before settling in Towanda during his 8th grade year. This is where he met the love of his life to the late Nancy (Simmons) Smith. They were high school sweethearts and both graduated from Circle High School in 1972.
Bobby and Nancy were united in marriage on August 17, 1972 in El Dorado. The couple made El Dorado their home where they had five children and ten grandchildren. Bobby worked in the oil field's with his father and did some electrician work before he began his 20+ year employment with Koch Industries. Bobby and Nancy were married for 41 years until Nancy's passing in 2014. Bobby was a devoted husband, father, and "Gran" to his family.
Bobby enjoyed sports of all kinds. He loved playing, watching, coaching, and being a loyal spectator. In his younger years, Bobby was a standout in baseball, football, basketball and track. He was on several All-Star baseball teams and was inducted in the El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame with two of his teams. After high school, Bobby enjoyed playing fast and slow-pitch softball until his children became older. He then began coaching his children and their friends in all their sports they participated in. Bobby then transitioned into being a spectator to all his grandchildren's activities.
