Mary Eleanor "Monk" Elkins, 96, of Groves, died Thursday, January 12, 2017. She was born on January 4, 1921, in Woodland, Louisiana, to Irene Jackson and Charles Herman Gerald.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Elkins Green of Port Neches; son, Max Elkins of Kingwood; brother, C.H. Gerald of Port Neches; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Elkins; parents; and sister, Enid Costley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Mrs. Elkins may be made to Humane Society of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704.
Mrs. Elkins' private family cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
