Mrs. Sarah Foster died at her home in this village, Tuesday morning, Nov. 28, 1893, aged eighty years and seven days.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. S.A. Nesbit, of Lincoln, and the remains were laid to rest in the Beaver Crossing cemetery, Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Foster was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Roark, was born in Franklin county Tennessee, Nov. 21, 1813, and was married in 1829 to Hiram Foster, soon after which she moved to Illinois, residing in that state an in Missouri and Iowa until the spring of 1870 when she moved to Nebraska, settling upon a homestead two mile northeast of this place where she remained until she moved to this village, a few years ago. She was the mother of twelve sons and one daughter, seven of whom remain to mourn her departure. Deceased was one of our first neighbors in Nebraska, we moving onto a homestead one-half mile from her home in the fall of 1870.
She was well known by the old settlers in this vicinity, and was highly respected by all who knew her; being known of late years, by people, both old and young, as "Grandma Foster." We extend to the mourning friends the sincere sympathy of this community and of the old settlers and neighbors.
