VALLEY -- Mrs. Hattie W. Burden, 99, of Valley died Tuesday evening, Feb. 26, 2002 at Florence Hand Nursing Home in LaGrange.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Mike Stonbraker and Mr. Carl Earnest officiating. Burial will follow in Langdale Cemetery in Valley.
Mrs. Burden is survived by her daughter, Ellaree (Gordon) Smith of Lanett; her brother, D.J. (Sue) Wright of Tallahassee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Ellen (Scotty) Harper of Valley and Jane E. Smith of Lake Harding Community; two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Harper and Dylan Harper, both of Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
Born April 4, 1902 in Ashland, Ala., Mrs. Burden was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Langdale Mill. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting and handiwork. She was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Maggie N. Powell Wright and Perry King Wright.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Langdale United Methodist Church or to one's favorite charity in her memory.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 28 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
