Leroy was the son of Clarence H. Hunt and Mollie Florence Hunt. He was educated in the Hancock County School System and was a Class of 1973 graduate of Hancock Central High School in Sparta, Georgia. He was employed with CSX Railroad for 35 years until his March 2014 retirement. He enjoyed cutting grass, sitting on his porch, cracking jokes and riding with his faithful dog, Gracie. He was a member of St Mark AME Church in Sparta, Georgia.
He was married to Sandra Lawrence Hunt on June 23, 1973. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Nakesha Hunt Horton, 1 sister, Carolyn Hunt and 1 nephew, Lintavius Latimore.
