In 1938 Lewis married Margaret Cox. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. A sports enthusiast, he managed and pitched for local baseball and softball teams and coached church basketball. He and his wife traveled throughout the world with friends and for the past 18 years divided their time between their homes in Phoenix, Ariz. and Salt Lake City.
