Al served six years on the KANA Board. He also served on the Old Harbor Native Corporation Board, the Old Harbor Tribal Council and the Kodiak Island Housing Authority Board. He helped improve and expand the health services offered to beneficiaries and meeting the needs of tribal members of Old Harbor. A lifelong fisherman, Al owned the Markayla Dawn and fished year-round for salmon, cod, crab, and herring.
