Mr. Dye came to this county about 30 years ago and settled in the vicinity of Braggadocio, where he maintained his residence until the time of his death. He was a member of the Baptist church of that town and was active in church work and affairs of his community until his health failed. He was a prominent merchant of that place and was widely known.
His first wife having preceded him in death, he was married December 2, 1916, to Mrs. Bertie Vaughn. To this union was born one son, who died in infancy.
Mr. Dye was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage and consequent paralysis January 30th and had been bedfast since that date, steadily growing weaker until the end came.
Funeral services were held for the deceased Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church at Braggadocio conducted by the Rev. Mr. Crocker, pastor of that church. The church was crowded, as many from all over the county came to pay their last respects to the deceased, many of these being friends of the family in this city. Interment took place later in the afternoon in Maple cemetery, near this city.
Deceased is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Tom May and Mrs. R.D. Kersey of Braggadocio, and three sons, R.L., Corbett and Aubrey Dye, all of his first marriage. A stepdaughter, Mrs. E.A. Long of this city, also survives.
