Roman James Bednar, 67, of Brainerd, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at his home. Roman was born March 3, 1955, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Jerome and Dorthy (Haller) Bednar. He grew up in Shoreview with eight siblings. The family spent time "up north" at the family homestead on South Long Lake and that is where Roman decided to call home when he was older. He married Lori Rosenberger and they were blessed with two children. Roman always enjoyed his work – a Master Plumber by trade he was extremely handy and had the knack to fix anything - but more than that he loved helping people when they were in need. And those customers became friends and friends became customers. He appreciated that he was able to do this work alongside family – his brother, his son, and his significant other.

At an early age, Roman found a passion for tinkering and he did most of it on cars. Whether he owned the car or heard about a friend who needed help with their car, he was always fixing and tinkering with cars. Above all, Roman's family meant the world to him. He was never shy about spoiling them with love and attention, especially the grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his significant other, Janice Gard; daughter, Jennifer (Joseph) Hedrick; son, Jacob "Jakey" (Mariam Aziz) Bednar; grandchildren, Vivian Ulm, Evangeline Hedrick, and Baby Boy Bednar on the way; siblings, Jeff "JB" (Mary) Bednar, Gary (Peggy) Bednar, Brent (Bonnie) Bednar, Steve (Karen) Bednar, Lori Olson, David (Amy) Bednar, Kim Hanson, and Tony Bednar; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Roman's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery by South Long Lake.
