Mr. Boldt was born on a farm in north Tama, October 27, 1882, and was one of the family of fourteen children of Mr. and Mrs. William Boldt. He was reared on the farm and was a farmer several years after his marriage April 17, 1907 to Augusta Grace Eichmeier of Gladbrook. The couple were farming the Brown farm in Crystal when they held a closing-out sale twenty years or more ago and moved to Waterloo, where he had worked continuously for the Rath and John Deere companies.
Surviving with the widow are a son, Ed J. Boldt, and a daughter, Mrs. Harold Force, both of Waterloo. A son, Clarence, died in October, 1927, of injuries received in an automobile accident. There are eight grandchildren. Mr. Boldt also leaves three brothers Henry of Traer; John of LaPorte City; and William, near Amity church in Grant township; and seven sisters, Mrs. Hubert Kahler near Garwin; Mrs. Andrew Sell, Gladbrook; Mrs. Minnie Lage near Lincoln; Mrs. Harry Dahms near Traer; Mrs. Dora Jensen of Reinbeck; Mrs. Mary Niemeyer of La Porte City; and Mrs. Theodore Schuett, southwest of Traer. A sister, Mrs. Sophie Urhammer died several years ago and two sisters died when small. William Boldt, the father of the large family died in 1922 and the mother in 1938. Both spent their years of retirement in Gladbrook.
