He graduated from Clarksdale High School and Delta State University. He was a member of the Napolonic Society, an avid bike rider and a self-taught astronomer.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years Sue Philpot Bell of Clarksdale, MS; daughters Noelle Glorioso (Stephen) of Cleveland, MS and Heather Lewis (Scott) of Middleton, TN; sisters Beverly Doggett and Lynda Taylor both of Clarksdale, MS and Dianne Ford of Concord, NH; grandchildren Grayson and Collin Glorioso and Sophie Fuqua.
Preceded in death by his parents Whitman A. Bell Sr. and Elizabeth Adams Bell.
