Robert assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Defender of Frontier as a militia man in Kentucky County, Virginia under Captain John Kennedy and Colonel George Rogers Clark in 1780. He was soon after given a land grant in Kentucky for 150 acres in Lincoln County, Kentucky on the Paint Linck Creek watercourse. Survey date: 7/16/1784
