She was born on April 12, 1945, in Blue Ridge, to the late Kenneth Wayne Stanley and Ruby Lee Smith Stanley. Martha was baptized into the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed fishing, farming, reading, and her flower garden. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dallas O'Neal; and siblings, Betty, Reathel, Christine, Mary Nell, and Michael.
