Josephine G. Thurmer, 92, formerly of N8691 Sylvan Bay Road, and a resident of West Allis for the past two years, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at West Allis Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1908, at Battle Creek, Iowa, a daughter of Wilhelm C. and Paulina Tonn Schau.

She married Arthur E. Thurmer Sr. at Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1991.

Mrs. Thurmer formerly owned and operated Ledgeview Café.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Rita Ruth Kluth of Texas and Juanita Schloemer and her husband Robert of Menomonee Falls; two step-sons, Art Thurmer of Waupun, and Norman Thurmer of Ohio; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by three sisters, Emma Dirnbauer of Florida, Edna Jensen of Arizona and Elsie Linden of Washington State; one brother, Richard Schau of Minnesota and other relatives.

Her beloved dog, "George" and a special friend, Corinne Johnston of West Allis, also survive.

Services: Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Estabrooks Cemetery. The Rev. Martin Koehler will officiate.

Uecker-Witt Funeral home is serving the family.
