Mrs. Steele was born December 2, 1929, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Shelton Capers Eaddy and Iona Douglas Eaddy. She was a graduate of Indiantown High School and attended business school. Mrs. Steele worked at Milliken and then was office manager at Ben Steele Carpet Company until retirement. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church where she served as secretary for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Woodmen of the World.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Frances Barrineau and a niece Nancy M. Barrineau..
