William Edward Brown, 58, of Jacksonville, died Saturday. He was a former member of Jacksonville City Council and served a term during that time as mayor pro tem. He was a deacon and past president of the Church Brotherhood of First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Kelly Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Aman of Jacksonville and Mrs. O. L. Brumfield Jr. of Anderson, S.C.; two sisters, Miss Maude Turner Brown of Butner. N.C., and Mrs. Eldon Matteson of Greenville, S.C.: two brothers, J. L. Brown Jr. and Randolph Brown of Hillsboro. N.C; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
