Betty Jean McClain (nee Blackwell) of Tyler, Texas, passed away on April 13, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born on August 30, 1930, in Sherman, Texas, where she grew up.

Betty was a graduate of Sherman High School and attended Kilgore College. She worked as the executive secretary to the president of Texas Commerce Bank Arlington. After her retirement, she cared for babies at a church daycare in Lubbock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her infant son Ronnie Bill Holliman, her husband Morris McClain, and her three siblings. She is survived by her daughter Carol Walker and son-in-law Charles Walker, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A voracious reader, she also was a master at crosswords and word puzzles. She had the gift of repartee, and she charmed everyone she met. She was a faithful member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Dorcas Class.

The family would like to thank The Hospice of East Texas for the care and compassion they showed Betty in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lloyd James Funeral Home from 5-7pm on Monday, April 18, 2022.

There will be a family graveside service at Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, April 22.
