Obituary
Silas Sackett was born in the State of new York in the year 1842. During the year 1870, he and his brother came to Sedgwick Co., KS., where he has since resided, thus making him one of its oldest residents. He was taken sick on Saturday, the 12th. During his sickness, he apparently suffered very little, if any. In the meantime he seemed to realize that his days were numbered, and said to his nurse, "No use to give me any medicine now." He was heard to be calling on the Lord most every day from the first. He departed this life Sunday, Dec. 20, at 6 o'clock a.m. aged 66 years. He leaves one brother, two sisters, a niece and many friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, Monday, Dec. 21, Rev. Cain officiating. Interment in the Clearwater cemetery.
