Mrs. Emergene Thayer

The death of Mrs. Emergene Thayer occurred Sunday afternoon at her home north of Westville on the Cherry Valley creek after a number of years of declining health.
Mrs. Thayer was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Almira Eliza (RICH) Bates and was born in a log cabin on Cornish Hill May 19, 1844. She always resided in Middlefield township, the last sixty-two years having been in the home in which her death occurred. She was united in marriage to James Thayer of Middlefield, whose death occurred twenty-five years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Laura Thayer, residing at home, and Mrs. Mary M. Thayer of Cooperstown; one son, Lewis Thayer of Westville; six grandchildren, Mrs. Emergene Thayer Thorn of Cooperstown, Mrs. Claude Talbot of Oneonta, Squire Taylor of Milford, Mrs. Paul Cornish and Theron of Schenectady, and Florence Saxton Smith, formerly of Bowerstown.
The funeral services were held from her late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial at the Westville cemetery.
