Mrs. I.G. Fillingim Rites are Read

Laura D. Fillingim, 74, passed away in the Hemphill County Hospital at Canadian Wednesday, March 1, 1967 after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Fillingim was a resident of Briscoe and the wife of I.G. Fillingim.

Mrs. Fillingim was born at Eros, Arkansas, March 9, 1892 to Barnett B. and Rebecca Coker. She was married to Iving Gillis (I.G.) Fillingim on Feb. 14,1909 at Turkey, Texas.

Mrs. Fillingim moved to Texas when she was 14. She lived at Matador and Turkey before moving to Wheeler County. She was a member of the Gageby Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband; three daughters; Mrs. Leola Root, Dalhart; Mrs. Eula Maye Newman of Ft. Worth; Mrs. Cornelia Lehman of McGregor, Minn.; seven sons: Leon Fillingim of Wheeler; E.G. of Briscoe; Talmadge of Pinkstown, S.D.; WIlliam of Faulkton, S.D.; Willis of Briscoe, Horace of Sugar City, Colorado; Hugh of Arlington, Texas; two sisters: Mrs. Lillian Fort of Baileyboro, Texas; Mrs. Addie Russell of Amarillo; Two brothers: Euless Coker of Turkey and Garland Coker of Turkey, Texas.

Also surviving are 45 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Services were held in the Wheeler First Methodist Church, Friday, March 3, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. C.T. Jackson, Mobeetie and Rev. Sanford Cole of Canadian officiating.

Burial was in Gageby Cemetery under the direction of Wright-Denson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Gaddy Vise, Edward Meek, Harry Fields Sr., Jack Hays, Elmer Simpson, and Allen Meadows.
