Memorial services for Ethel Pauline Newcomer, age 88, were conducted following her death Oct. 30, 1999, in Ardmore, Okla. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Nappanee, Ind.
Mrs. Newcomer was born April 29, 1911, at Elkhart, Ind., to Chester and Nina Amsden. She was the oldest child of a family of 10.
She was married to Carl R. Newcomer, July 27, 1935.
She is survived by three children, Martha Frattinger of Bloomingdale, Ill., Nina Alberding of Portage, Mich., and a son, Robert and his wife, Patricia Newcomer, of Ardmore; seven grandchildren, Julie and Jennifer Alberding of Portage, Mich., Dan Frattinger of Bloomingdale, Ill., Chris Frattinger of Sparks, Nev., Brian Newcomer of Minneapolis, Mich., Christie Newcomer of Dallas, and Tamara Long of Ardmore; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brook Bean of Iowa; three sisters, Jane Growcock of Elkhart, Mary Lou Stump of Nappanee and Evelyn Madlem ³Babe² of Long Beach, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, Grace Amsden, Lena Amsden and Esther Amsden, all of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Chester, Bernard, William, Arthur and Hiney; and a sister, Doris Yohn, all formerly of Elkhart.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ethel loved to cook. She made the best Rivels and her cinnamon bread was outstanding.
