Mrs. Carole Lee Carter Smith, 84, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
She was born in Patrick County, VA on March 24, 1938, to the late William Addison and Lula Maude Croaff Carter.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Jackson Smith; a daughter Lisa Lynette Smith Collins; a son, James William Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice "Winona" and John Arnold; brothers, Lawrence Clair Carter, Herbert Carter and Howard Carter; a special niece, Shelia Arnold Temple.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and caregiver and son-in-law, Christi Janine and Travis Layne Stevens; grandchildren, Samantha Nicole Stewart, Jackson Carter Stevens, Matthew Joel Stevens, Daniel Luke Stevens; many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Langham officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. the family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at Salem United Methodist Church. Flowers will be accepted.
