FORMER LOCAL WOMAN DEAD IN CALIFORNIA
Mrs. Cora Dennie Dies In Home At Norwalk After Illness Of Several Months
Mrs. Cora Dennie, 75, former Evansville resident and sister of Attorney Fred L. Janes, this city, died on Monday of last week in her home at Norwalk, Calif., following an illness of several months.
Funeral services were held last Thursday in the Methodist church there with burial in the Norwalk cemetery.
Mrs. Dennie, formerly Miss Cora Janes, daughter of the late Chester and Mary Janes, pioneer settlers, was born on a farm south of Evansville Nov. 9, 1862 and was married there to B. J. Dennie at a ceremony performed March 16, 1880.
Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dennie made their home for many years in Evansville where the former was engaged in the contracting and building business. They later moved to Minneapolis and from there to California where they had since resided and where Mr. Dennie died two years ago.
Mrs. Dennie is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Otto Berger and Mrs. Edith Sellers, both of Norwalk; three sons, Roy and Grant Dennie, Beloit and Harold Dennie, Waukegan, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Flora A. Dillingham, Long Beach, Calif., a former Evansville resident, and Mrs. Carrie MaGee, Janesville; and one brother, Fred L. Janes, this city.
