Frances (alias Fannie), the second daughter and second of four children of George Washington Shaw and Sarah Elizabeth Arnold was born on 12 July 1846 at Boston, Massachusetts. Frances married Addison Day Hildreth, the son of Abel Fletcher and Eliza Maria (Day) Hildreth on 8 July 1868 at Needham, Norfolk, Massachusetts. They had two children born at Massachusetts:
1. John W. S. Hildreth (b. 1869; d. 19 Jul 1907, Boston, MA), m. 13 Mar 1897 at Boston, MA, Marcia E. Dill (1873-)
2. Frances "Fannie" Shaw Hildreth (b. 25 May 1872), m. 20 Jun 1898 at Boston, MA, Edmond A. Townley (1867-)
