Juan Francisco Farias II "Juanito", 78, (Born September 25, 1942) of San Isidro, Texas passed away peacefully on January 27, 2021.
Juan served the San Isidro community as a High School teacher of History and Government, as well as an Athletic Coach of the "Mighty Tigers" football and baseball teams. He also served as a High School educator at Valley View Independent School District where he retired in 2004 as a GED instructor. Juan had a love for building custom homes and did so from 1979 to 2005. Upon retiring from teaching and building homes, Juan worked part-time with his daughter, Sandra, and son-in-law Anival Henrickson for 15 years at Advance Employment Services teaching and conducting career evaluations. He enjoyed guiding and encouraging students and clients throughout his career and believed in treating everyone with dignity and respect.

In his elder years, Juan demonstrated a gentle, patient and sensitive spirit. He was a member of the 2-2-2 Men's Bible study group which he attended on Saturday mornings. He enjoyed listening to music, spending time at restaurants sharing coffee and meals with friends, being a foot soldier in community and national elections and cheering on his grandchildren at their numerous sporting events. One of Juan's favorite songs was "Un Dia a La Vez" and his motto was "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Felipa Farias, and sister, Lucila Farias.

Juan is survived by his wife, Alma Rosa Farias and brothers Leonel (Anabella) Farias and Jose Adan (Diana) Farias . He is also survived by children of his first marriage to Minerva G. Farias: Lisa Farias-Moreno, Sandra (Anival) Farias Henrickson and John (Marisol) Farias III ; and grandchildren, Elyse Acuna, Martin Melgosa, John Farias IV, Stephen Moreno, Giada Farias and Gael Farias.

In observation of the pandemic, an outdoor visitation will be held at Edinburg First United Methodist Church (EFUMC), 3707 W. State Highway 107, Edinburg, Texas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March the 5th in the EFUMC Prayer Garden.

A memorial service will be held at Edinburg First United Methodist Church (EFUMC) the following morning at 11:00 a.m. on March 6, 2021 with live streaming available followed by a private family ceremony at the Alvarado Cemetery in San Isidro, Texas.

He will be missed dearly by family and friends but there is great comfort in knowing that he is now with his Heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr.
