A Life Remembered ~ Julia Ann Outwater Van Winkle

Julia Ann Van Winkle was born in Bergen County, New Jersey in 1843 to parents, Jacob Outwater & Annette Conklin. She was raised in the township of Lodi before marrying Garret Van Winkle, son of Richard Van Winkle and Catharine Van Busson, on 5 June 1861 in Lodi, New Jersey.

Following their marriage, the couple moved in with Julia's parents Jacob and Anna Outwater and lived in Lodi. While living in Lodi, Garret and Julia had their first son on 8 March 1872 in Lodi according to original birth records of Bergen County, New Jersey. In the 1870 United States Census, Garret was shown to be a farmer. Their first son, Jacob, 7, was attending school. It is to be noted that by this year, Jacob's birth year had changed to 1873, which was reflective on his headstone, though 1872 was his actually birth year.

By 1880, Garret was listed as a carpenter in the 1880 US Census.

In the 1920 United States Census, Garret is living with his son, Dr. Jacob O. Van Winkle in Oakville, Washington.

On 2 January 1925, Julia died in San Diego, California.
