Final rites were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. A. H. Sloan in the Methodist church with Rev. Charles Smith of Chestnut, former pastor of the church, officiating with Rev. James J. Gross assisting. Music was furnished by Mrs. Harold Hall and Mrs. Harold Bouton with Mrs. Ray Montgomery at the organ.
She was laid to rest in the Princeville cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. E. O. Smith, Harry Friedman, Harry Hibbs, Earl Werner, James Long and Floyd Harrod.
Rowena Ann, daughter of Ezra and Martha Jane Little Adams, was born on a farm near Princeville April 2, 1870. When a young woman she moved with her parents into Princeville where she completed her education.
She was united with the M. E. church of Princeville July 18, 1886 and remained active until her death. She also was a member of Union Grove Chapter Order of the Easter Star, having served as Worthy Matron of this organization.
February 21, 1892, she was united in marriage to Augustua Henry Sloan in a ceremony performed in Rock Island by Rev. F. W. Merrill, who had been the pastor of the local church at the time Mrs. Sloan joined. They made their home in a farm east of Princeville, where she spent the remainder of her life, except for the winter months of recent years, which were spent in Florida.
To this union four sons and two daughters, Lowell of Chicago, Leland and Dewey of Princeville, Eldridge of Monmouth and Mrs. Zelma Peterson of Princeville, were born. One daughter, Jennie, and one grandson David Sloan, preceded her in death.
