Memorial services for Earl Gayle "EG" Abbott will be held graveside at the Jones Prairie "Crossroads" Cemetery in Leggett, Texas on April 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with longtime friend and "second son," Joe Smith officiating. Visitation will be held April 8, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Earl was born April 21, 1934 to Luscious Quinn and Charlotte "Lottie" (McBride) Abbott in Houston, Texas and went to be with our Lord on April 4, 2022 at 10:05 p.m. while holding the hand of his beautiful bride.
Earl proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 - 1959 and was a member of the American Legion Post 312. He retired from Armco in 1983 after working there for 32 years. He was an avid cattleman and farmer who loved being one with the land.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lee George Abbott, Luscious "Quinn" Abbott, and Bennie James Abbott; sister, Avanell Abbott Benedict; and other beloved family and in-laws.
Earl is survived by his bride of 65 years, Deltrice Corine (Meadows) Abbott of Leggett, Texas; sister, Elizabeth "Beth" Abbott Evans of Georgia; son, Wade Gayle Abbott and wife, Caroline of Huntsville, Texas; daughter, Dawana Lenee Abbott Armentrout of Leggett, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as many other beloved family and friends.
