ALBERT E. HASS

Albert E. Hass, for 63 years a butcher here, died Saturday in his home, 7612 Grace Avenue S.W., where he had resided for 57 years. Born in Germany 80 years ago, Mr. Hass came to Cleveland in 1877 when he was four. As a youth he went to work for the former Lake Erie Provision Co., which later became the Cleveland Provision Co. He rapidly became a skilled butcher and remained with that organization until he retired in 1948. Mr. Hass was for 60 years a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was one of its founding members and its oldest in point of membership. In 1894 he married Ida W. Haas. They had observed their golden wedding anniversary before her death in 1950. Surviving him are four sons, Alvin G., a funeral director connected with the Henry J. Dress funeral home, Arthur S., Frank J. and John F.; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Wilso [sic]; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the Henry J. Dress funeral home, 15408 Triskett Road N.W. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
