Dennis Rollin Volling, age 78, was born October 21, 1943, to Gordon A. and Laurene M. (nèe Keisler) Volling, in Harvey, IL. The Volling family moved to Antioch in 1947 where Dennis began a lifetime of service to the community.

Dennis was the Vice President of Antioch Electric Service, Inc for more than 40 years. While working for Antioch Electric, Dennis helped oversee the installation of the first poles and set of lights for baseball, at the Antioch Little League fields where he coached his children for more than 10 years. Dennis was also a coach for Antioch Viking Football, a former member of the Antioch Jaycees, Antioch Lion's Club, and on the first Miss Antioch contest committee.

Dennis was also a member of the Antioch Fire Department for more than 55 years. While on the Antioch Fire Department he was on the first Rescue and Recovery Dive Team, was a certified diver and former Divemaster, a member of the watertight team, Illinois Certified firefighter 1, 2, and 3, a certified pump and hydraulics instructor, certified National Emergency Medical Technician, as well as holder of numerous other certifications from The University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana Fire Service. Dennis also served as the Chief for 14 years of his service and the president of the Antioch Firefighters Association.

Dennis loved being on Facebook and being able to keep in touch with old friends. He also enjoyed spending time at his vacation homes in both Wisconsin and Florida.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathleen (nèe Riley) Volling and his children, Brenda Py, Dennis K (Lisa) Volling, Rodney (Deb) Volling, Elizabeth Sobczak, and Emily (AJ) Mayer. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, Thomas, Chanel (Blake), Ashley (Andrew), Alex, Sean, Kaylin, and Harrison and four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Finn, Tatum, and Emmett. Dennis leaves behind two brothers, Gordon K. (Kathleen) and Bruce (Kathryn) and his best-friend since second grade, Richard Kufalk and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Gayle (Kazlausky) Volling and his parents, Gordon A. and Laurene Volling.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at which time funeral services will commence at 11:00 a.m. All visitation times and the funeral service will be held at Antioch Fire Department Station 1, 835 Holbek Drive, Antioch. Interment will take place at a later date in Hillside East Cemetery, Antioch. Donations can be made to The First Fire District of Antioch, in memory of Chief Dennis R. Volling.
