FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Kenneth "Jack" Alkire, 64, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1993 at Memorial Hospital. Born May 14, 1928 in Fort Ashby, he was the son of the late James D. and Mary (Pownell) Alkire. Mr. Alkire was a retired salesperson for the Tri-State Electric Company. He was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea. Mr. Alkire was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a honorary member of the Fort Ashby Fire Company. Survivors include his wife Frances; two sons, Joseph Alkire and his wife Sue, Fort Ashby, and Kenneth Alkire, Alexandria, Va.; one daughter, Lee Ann Gable and husband Tony, Hagerstown; one sister, Shirley Davis, Hagerstown and three grandchildren, Aaron, Brooke and Daniel. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Fort Ashby Funeral Home by the Rev. Al Guyon. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Ashby Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Ashby Fire Company.
