FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - James Dennison Alkire, 82, of here, died Saturday in the Dawn View Nursing Home. Born here Sept. 7, 1901, he was the son of the late Soloman Alkire and Alice (Dennison) Alkire. His widow, Mary V. (Pownell) Alkire, survives. Mr. Alkire was a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation and was a charter member of the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Company. Also surviving are one son, Kenneth J. "Jack" Alkire, of here; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Davis, Hagerstown; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Troutman and Mrs. Pansy Dohrman, both of here; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney on Monday.
