Parsons, KS - January 8, 2008

Loren D. Dillinger, 75, rural Erie, Kansas, died at his home at 6:17 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2008. He had been in failing health the past several years.

He was born February 23, 1932, at Wilmore, Kansas, to Charles W. and Beryl (Linder) Dillinger.

He moved with his family to the St. Paul area in 1938. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1950 and attended Parsons Junior College two years.

Throughout his adult life he farmed and worked as a mechanic, working at various places and then as a partner with Bill Noakes, for about 20 years operating Bill and Loren's Service.

He was a member of the First Christian Church at Erie.

He loved to fish, raise Charolais cattle and to invent and build various things.

On July 18, 1954 he married Twila M. Dyke at the Methodist parsonage in St. Paul, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Twila Dillinger of the home; two sons, Daniel Dillinger and wife Lourdes, of Wichita, KS, and David Dillinger and wife Traci, of Coral Springs, FL; five daughters, Shirley Estrada (John), of Arlington, TX, Debbie Coover (Bryan), of Galesburg, KS, Celia McBride (Charles "Mackie"), of Kansas City, MO; Lorene Taul of Centerton, AR, and Sheryl Goodwin of Erie, KS; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Dillinger of Bella Vista, AR, Glenn Dillinger of Wilmore, KS, and Wayne Dillinger of Scammon, KS; and one sister, Lola Baker of rural Parsons, KS.

Preceding him in death was an infant daughter, Mary Kay; his parents; a brother, Lloyd Dillinger, and a sister, Eva Baker.

Funeral services will be at the First Christian Church in Erie, Kansas, with Rev. Debi Lorenz officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Erie, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Erie or the Hospice Care of Kansas.
