Graveside inurnment for Joseph Leon Absher, Sr., will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Rodriguez officiating. Mr. Absher passed away Jan. 12, 2005, in Lubbock.
He was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Comanche, Okla., to the late Robert Brooks and Nellie Absher. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He married Ruth Konkol on April 10, 1965, in Crystal Lake, Ill. She preceded him in death Aug. 10, 2004. Joseph was a truck driver and was a very soft-spoken and devoted family man.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph L. Absher, Jr., of Phoenix and Russell of Lubbock; four stepchildren, Bonnie Tempinski of Glendale Heights, Ill., Dennis DeBaltz of Elgin, Ill., Linda Schwartz of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Kevin DeBaltz of Naperville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
