Sheldon I. Helsel, 90, of East Freedom, passed away Monday March 28, 2022 at UPMC-Altoona. He was born March 11, 1932, in McKee, son of the late H. Grant and Myrtle E. (Miller) Helsel. He married Carolyn A. Snowberger on September 27, 1951 in Winchester, VA. She passed away May 14, 2009.

Surviving is a son Barry Helsel of East Freedom and a brother Dennis Helsel of Duncansville.

He was preceded in death by 6 siblings.

Sheldon formerly attended Leamersville Grace Brethren Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Helsel Upholstery, East Freedom from 1963 until his retirement in 2021. Sheldon was a member of the American Legion, Bedford and enjoyed boating and working on his old cars.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday April 1, 2022 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 2, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Hoover officiating. Interment at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
