Maurice McGhiey, 80, or rural McNabb died Thurs., Oct. 7, 1993 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley.
Born Oct 6, 1913 in rural Magnolia to Henry and Lara Keedy McGhiey, he married Mary Smith on Oct. 29, 1938, in Nashua, Iowa. She died in 1983. Two sons, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Rebecca Richards of rural Hennepin; one brother, Tom of Seneca; one sister, Beverly J. Hoge of rural McNabb; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He farmed in McNabb and sold livestock fee. Her formerly owned and managed Priscilla Grain Co. in Priscilla. He was a member of Magnolia Grange.
He was a member of the Northern Illinois Shriners and the Varna Rotary Club. He was a past master of Magnolia Grange. He was a member of the Cumberland Cemetery board of directions and Edgewood Golf Course in McNabb.
He was active with the Society of Friends Clear Creek in McNabb.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Helmer Shields Funeral Home in Granville. The Rev. Irvine Huber officiated. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial was in Cumberland Cemetery, rural Magnolia.
