PORT REPBULIC, April 1 – Samuel N. Harper, one of Port Republic's oldest and most highly-esteemed residents, died at his home here at 10:30 o'clock this morning. Death was due to complications.

Mr. Harper, who was 76 years old, was born and raised in this community and spent his entire life here where he was regarded as one of the most substantial citizens. He was a stewart in the Port Republic Methodist Church and took an active interest in church affairs.

His widow, four daughters, three brothers, and three sisters survive.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock Saturday morning from the Port Republic M. E. Church, his pastor, the Rev. W. A. Clark officiating. Pallbearers will be Harry Lam, Joe Miller, Russell Downs, Hobart Earman, Robert Meyerhoeffer, and Charles Hook.
