Mrs. Arlene Frances Scates Raulerson, age 70 years old, went to her Heavenly home on March 25, 2022. She was born on November 9, 1951, to Burt Scates and Louise Scates Beverlin in Washington, D.C. She and her family moved to Baker County in her early teens. Arlene attended and graduated from Baker County High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Tommy Raulerson. Tommy and Arlene were married for 51 years. Arlene excelled at Baker County High School. She was a Senior Class Beauty, a member of the Homecoming Court and a Football and Basketball Cheerleader. Following graduation, she attended Beauty School in Jacksonville, Florida, where she received her beautician certification. She worked for many years in Bernice Green's Beauty Salon in Macclenny. She and Tommy then bought a farm in the Baxter area of Baker County. Arlene continued her love of working with people when she opened Arlene's Beauty Shop in Baxter. The beauty shop was a popular place for many years for the ladies and friends in the community to meet and leave beautiful. After a life-threatening accident, she retired from the beauty business. Arlene always loved to be involved in her church, Baxter Baptist Church. She offered her talents to the church by providing floral arrangements and decorations for the church and church activities. Her old beauty shop looked like a florist shop. The highlight of Arlene's life was her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She would always have holiday baskets with lots of goodies prepared for them during the holidays. While celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary, she and Tommy had purchased and wrapped Christmas gifts for the children who attended the "Celebration of Their Love". Santa Claus attended the Anniversary to greet the children and give out the presents. As a Mission to their Faith, Tommy and Arlene have sponsored, for many years, children in foreign countries living in poverty. They proudly post the children's photos on their kitchen refrigerator.

Arlene and Tommy and their sons loved living on their farm on the Georgia Bend where they raised cattle, chickens, and various breeds of dogs. To get relief from the hard work on the farm, Tommy and Arlene loaded up their sons and traveled throughout the United States allowing the boys to experience the beauty and wonders of our beautiful country.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Tommy, her sister, Stacy from Virginia, and her four sons and daughter:

Dr. Thomas J. "Tom" Raulerson and his wife, DeeDee, from Gainesville, Matt Raulerson from Baxter, Adam Raulerson and his wife, Sheri, from Macclenny, Robbie Aberly and his wife, Jody, from Macclenny, and daughter Sam Laird from Jacksonville. Her beautiful grandchildren are: Ty Raulerson, Emma Raulerson, Lilah Raulerson, Grady Raulerson, Alexa Raulerson, Hayes Raulerson, Lola Aberly, and Roman Aberly. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bonnie Aberly.

The funeral service to honor Arlene Frances Scates Raulerson will be at Raiford Road Church in Macclenny, Florida, on March 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at North Prong Cemetery in Baxter, Florida. A visitation will be at Raiford Road Church at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service.
