The funeral for Oscar Newton Coker, 71, of Hampton, will be at 2 pm today at Hampton United Methodist Church, with burial at Berea Cemetery.
Mr Coker, retired Hampton police chief, died Friday.
He was also a retired supervisor, after 28 years with the Hampton Light and Water Department and a retired Henry County Deputy Sheriff. He was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, the McIntosh Trail Planning and Development Commission and a charter member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Rose Hand Coker; daughters, Mrs Charles Daniel of Richmond, Va, Mrs John Guditis of Chicago and Mrs Gerald Freeman of Stone Mountain, and brother, Sam Coker of Blairsville, Ga.
