The children of Francis Edward Barbaud and Ella Cowen were Robert Leroy, who married Maggie Fisher; Minnie Estelle, who never married; Francis Edward, Jr., who married Juel Campbell; and John Henry, who married Edna Drysdale. Francis Edward Barbaud died of typhoid fever on Sept. 12, 1900. Ella Cowen Barbaud later married William Rudolph Banderman, a native of Hanover, Germany, a marriage that produced seven children. Francis Edward Barbaud, age 39, lay dying of typhoid in one corner if their bedroom while his wife gave birth to John in another corner of the same room. The father died three days after his son was born.

Mother was Mary Magdelena (Hays) Barbaud, who died in 1867.
