BERNICE SEELY BURROUGHS LIPPERT SEP 21, 1910 - MAR 20, 2009 On March 20, 2009, Bernice Lippert, after 98 1/2 years went home to be with her Lord and to be reunited with her family in heaven. Welcome Home Good and Faithful Servant. Bernice was born on September 21, 1910, in New Plymouth, Idaho, to Herbert and Maude Burroughs. Her parents were farmers and some of her earliest memories were of driving a team of horses to spray the peach trees. Following college, she taught elementary school and coached girls H. S. Basketball for six years. In June of 1937 she married Roy Lippert and the two became an inseparable pair for the next 69 years. One never spoke of them in separate terms it was always Roy and Bernice. Following a short stay in Rio Vista, Bernice and her family moved to Modesto in 1947. While Roy taught Agriculture at MJC Bernice was active in church, PTA and Guild Girls. Bernice was a great cook and was known for her hospitality. In 1962 Bernice and Roy went to Haiti, where they worked building a water tower, a wing on a hospital, a new school, and a health clinic. This was a life changing experience for them. Together the next 45 years were spent raising monetary support for missionaries around the world. They would return to Haiti two more times to build schools and churches. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, her husband (Roy) and daughter (Donna Mae Anderson), she is survived by her son Bert (Michele), grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas and Jordan and son-in-law David Anderson. There will be a celebration of Bernice's life on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 916 Northfield Court beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers make any remembrance of Bernice to a favorite charity. This is not a time to mourn our loss for we will be reunited again, but a time to rejoice in a long and meaningful life rich in love and peace.www.modbee.com/obituaries
