Teitur Teitsson was a farmer and sea captain while in Iceland where they lived for 40 years before emigrating to the Territory of Dakota, Pembina County in September 1883 with eight of their eighteen children. Teitur was struck by lightening while herding cattle to their homestead in Thingvalla Township during a storm the 21st of June 1888.
